Freezing Temperatures cause pipe to burst in Fenton, MO

During the recently extremely cold weather we experienced in the Midwest we had an abundance of calls similar to this one.

The exterior water spigot had froze during the drop in temperature, only to thaw out and begin leaking water into this finished basement when the temperatures rose over the next few days. This situation happens regularly, luckily one of the homeowners were there to catch it before it damaged their entire basement. Water that comes from this source is clean water, and typically can be dried without a large amount of demolition. The issue we ran into is when pulling back the carpet to remove the pad. Water had saturated the carpet causing the backing of the carpet to pull away. This is called delamination, and is cause for the carpet to be removed.
